Was Ross Perot Right?
I am told that new emails in Detroit complain that the real problem on their bailout is that politicians did not have the leadership to institute a gas tax to motivate people to buy fuel efficient cars. And would rather blame Detroit for selling cars that people wanted to buy when gas prices are cheap.
Would an accelerated phase in of a dollar a gallon increase in gasoline taxes get people to buy the green cars, with half the money going to shore up social security and half to replace bridges?
Why not be honest and effective to solve this?
After all, maybe Ross Perot was correct.
